  • Intra-state supplies: GST is split equally into CGST and SGST (or UTGST for Union Territories). Each is half of the total rate.
  • Inter-state supplies: Full GST is charged as IGST. IGST = CGST + SGST combined rate.
  • Cess: Select goods attract additional Compensation Cess over and above GST (e.g., tobacco, aerated drinks, motor vehicles). This calculator does NOT compute cess — verify on gst.gov.in.
  • RCM (Reverse Charge): Certain services (e.g., legal services by advocate to registered businesses, GTA) are taxable under RCM — the recipient pays GST directly.
  • Composition Scheme: Taxpayers under composition scheme cannot charge GST to customers. Rates are different — 1% (traders), 2% (manufacturers), 5% (restaurants).
  • Exports & SEZ: Zero-rated. GST is charged at 0% on exports; refund of input tax credit is available.
Disclaimer: GST rates shown are based on the CGST Act, 2017, IGST Act, 2017, and notifications issued by the GST Council (up to the 55th GST Council meeting). Rates for specific goods/services may vary based on exact specifications, end-use, recipient, and applicable exemption notifications. Some goods attract Compensation Cess in addition to GST. This tool does not account for cess, RCM obligations, or export/SEZ zero-rating. Always cross-check on the GST Rate Finder at gst.gov.in. Consult a GST practitioner for transaction-specific advice.
